Saturday Morning RPG, an epic ’80s-inspired RPG, now available for iOS
Saturday Morning RPG is a role-playing game inspired by the best cartoons and pop culture icons the 1980s had to offer. It’s the first game in a season of self-contained episodes that will tell the tale of Martin “Marty” Michael Hall’s battle against the forces of evil.
Marty, an average high school student, has been gifted the powerful ability to channel magic through everyday objects. With his newfound powers he has inadvertently attracted the ire of the world’s most heinous villain: the evil Commander Hood. To unravel Commander Hood’s diabolical schemes and save the world, Marty can use a Botchangers action figure to crush enemies as a semi-trailer truck or a Joystick to start a video tennis barrage.
Those aren’t the only powers that Marty can use; the progression system lets players grow their character’s abilities to match their play style and mix and match magical scratch-and-sniff stickers they collect in-game to boost powers, weaken enemies, and more. Players can carry over stats, inventory, and even story decisions between these episodes. Sometimes your actions in one episode will ripple into previous or future episodes.
Saturday Morning RPG features an original soundtrack by legendary composers Vince DiCola and Kenny Meriedeth. Vince DiCola is best known for his work on Transformers: The Animated Movie and Kenny Meriedeth has worked on musical scores for over 200 popular cartoons and shows including Duck Tales, X-Men, and Power Rangers.
Saturday Morning RPG is free and is available now for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
Avernum: Escape From the Pit HD now available on the iPad

iPhone 4 Photoshop file available for app development

Developers -- are you in need of a really high resolution mockup of the iPhone 4/4S Retina display GUI elements to help the design of your app? Geoff Teehan and his team created a Photoshop file (.PSD) to help you mock up those apps.
According to Teehan, "The file is huge, both in file size (62.7MB) and dimension (4074 x 2986). You'll need to work at 25% - 50% even on the largest screens to roughly grab elements before zooming into 100% for the actual work."
Teehan mentions that as they were developing the template, they noticed that Apple had expended a lot of effort on determining how each UI element would be translated to the 640 x 960 pixel native resolution of the iPhone Retina display. "What were single pixel elements are now two or three pixels thick and effects are exaggerated to become visible," says Teehan.
The file is free for the download, but Teehan asks for anyone using the file to "Pay Whatcha Like." That seems to be a fair and useful pricing scheme.

iPad more readily available in-store than online

Want to get an iPad as soon as possible without having to wait weeks for it to arrive? According to a ComputerWorld report, your best bet is take a trip to your local Apple Store. The publication surveyed a handful of Apple stores and found that all the stores it called had at least one iPad model in stock. Online sales of the iPad, however, still have a delay of one to two weeks.
Apple said last month that it sold three million iPad units between March 16 and March 19.

Tethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0 on Apple TV now available
Some good news for 2nd generation (not 3rd generation yet, unfortunately) Apple TV owners who love their jailbreak; fireCore has now announced that the iDevice has been successfully jailbroken on iOS 5.0 (currently the most recent version) for Apple TV. The slightly bad news is that the jailbreak is only tethered for now, requiring users to connect it to their Mac or PC upon every boot. fireCore will also set you back $ 29.95, although this is certainly worth it for all of the cool features you get from jailbreaking.
While some jailbreak plugins are functional on iOS 5.0 for Apple TV, some aren’t. A complete list of what is and what isn’t currently compatible is as follows:
Working:
- Couch Surfer
- Last.fm
- Maintenance
- Media Player
- NitoTV
- RSS Feeds
- Weather
Not working:
- Overflow
- Plex
- Remote HD
- Rowmote
- XBMC
The non-working plugins are expected to be updated for the new Apple TV iOS version soon, but for now you can still enjoy everything that is available while you wait for the rest. You can also opt to wait for an untethered jailbreak, which is expected to be released sometime soon.

Then Feral Interactive has some good news for you, as the company has officially released BioShock 2—the sequel to the critically acclaimed BioShock—for download from a variety of digital partner sites.
Deep within the ruined undersea city of Rapture, your beloved Little Sister, Eleanor, awaits your return. As her Big Daddy, you protected her from a world of selfish adults, now you must shield her again from those who demand that everything must be shared.
Ten years after the events of BioShock, Rapture has fallen under the control of a collectivist cult who plan to transform Eleanor into a genetically-engineered messiah, who will put an end to individuality forever.
BioShock 2 was originally developed by 2K Marin, 2K Australia, 2K China and Digital Extremes, and published by 2K Games for games consoles and PC. The Mac edition of BioShock 2 also contains an entirely separate multiplayer game, The Fall of Rapture. Players take on the role of mutated test subjects for the opportunistic plasmid manufacturer Sinclair Solutions, and engage in the civil war that tore Rapture apart.
The suggested retail price for BioShock 2 for the Mac in North America is US $ 30.99, £21.99 (inc. VAT) in the UK and €24.99 (inc. VAT) throughout Europe.
